“The Beauty of God: Suffering & Presence”
Sunday, Feb 7
10:00am
Episcopal Church of the Advent
Spartanburg, SC
I am honored this Sunday to speak at the Episcopal Church of the Advent in Spartanburg, SC. We will think together about the strange fusion of suffering, service, and art in the Christian vision of God.
Is God beautiful? Does that even matter?
What does the beauty of religious art, architecture, and ceremony offer our suffering world?
How do we reconcile the wealth required to create and maintain such beauty with the poverty that fills our city and discipleship of one who was himself rejected from the Temple?
What do we do with this gift we hold in our hands?
All are welcome.
