“Here Am I”: A Sermon on Isaiah 6

January 1, 2017 By Scott Neely Leave a Comment

“Here am I; send me.” (Isaiah 6:8)

When God asks the impossible, and failure seems as certain as our calling to the task before us,

a vision of something greater guides us,

a magic calls to us.

A sermon offered on New Year’s Day 2017, at First Presbyterian Church-Woodruff.

Gratitude, and more gratitude, to the genius of Davelyn Hill.

The sermon may be heard here:

From the sermon:

“We stand in awe and wonder.

“In the beauty of this earth,

in the love of this congregation,

in the power of our vocation,

in the glory of Advent and Christmas,

in the magic of friends and saints who sit beside us,

and in the gifts they bring us

beyond anything we or they could design–

“in all these things we are given

a vision of the majesty of God

who rules with justice and mercy

for all people

above any earthly rule or circumstance.”
